Are you a coffee buff? You most probably are because if you’re not then you won’t be pouring over this page at all. For a coffee person, it is difficult to get through the day without our favorite cuppa Joe. We’d start the day with it, pause for breaks to sip one, and unwind at the end of a grueling day with a cup in hand, smiling to ourselves.

Now, however, due to budget constraints we are forced to look for ways to get it cheap without the crappy taste. With an espresso latte maker and a wealth of resources from the internet (and friends, of course), we kiss spending $15 for a cup and let the accumulated cash go their merry way to our savings.

I’ve read and heard great, cool tips from fellow coffee buffs all around the place and here I will narrow it down to 3 essential factors to help you folks out there who are just about starting to have a clue in coffee making.

So how do you make great coffee like it’s made by a pro-barista at home using your espresso latte maker?

Read on.

Tip #1: Buy Coffee You Like and Buy It Fresh.

There are as many coffee bean varieties as its many characteristic taste and flavors. They also come from different regions from all over the globe and each kind of coffee has its own set of different characteristics. You can choose between Java, Arabica coffee, Colombia Excelso, Costa Rican Tarrazu, and many other varieties.

It is important to decide on beans you like and realize that each variety is immensely different from the other, so do some research before trying a completely new one. Most importantly, get your favorite beans fresh roasted and make every effort to keep them from staling. Buy it as close to the roasting date as you can and buy only the amount that’s sure to sustain you for a week. Keep it in a Ziploc bag to keep the air out.

Tip #2: Be grind and brew conscious.

It is a serious deal that the coarseness of the grind matches your brewing technique and the amount of coffee you are brewing. You need to tailor your grind to the amount of coffee you are making, that should make sense. A good advice I’ve taken is to use 10g of fairly grounded coffee to every 6oz of water.

Tip #3: Water temperature is very important.

I couldn’t stress this enough. When it comes to making great coffee, one can’t do away with the role water temperature plays. It is very important. You should hit about 190F for your brewing water. And remember: Never downplay temperature or heat losses in the course of coffee making in your espresso latte maker. For example, pouring from a kettle into a chemex measuring cup can lose about 30F leaving you with hot water below the standard 190F. Preheat everything you need when making coffee (water vessels, measuring cups, etc.) to avoid temperature loss and be meticulous about the temperature consistency features before splurging on an espresso latte machine.

With tons of latte makers in the market today as well as the know-how from pro’s, making excellent coffee that rivals those we get from our favorite coffee shops have been proven to be possible and easier with the passing of each day. So go ahead and enjoy. Hit up the site for more info about easy coffee-making and the espresso latte makers to help you with it.

Now let's hear it from you. Do you have a personal "must-do" or any particular style or method in making lattes, espressos and other coffee wonders? Spill it out in the comments so we can give it a try!

Starbucks quality - but presumably, not the price! Now your talking! Particularly interested in the discussion of temperature loss and using a coffee maker with adequate temperature control features. Makes good sense that, but not something I'd onsidred previously. Thanks. Excellent hub.
